We tried going around our neighborhood last night at 5pm but it was pouring and three lights that I could see were on. I didn't know of any t-o-t going on, so we went to my parents. We went to four homes in our rain ponchos before I was begging to be done. We took a little break until more family could come, and luckily the rain had calmed down.

I agree with your comments, and also something my dad said last night. Why do both parents have to go out with the kids? Why not leave one home to hand out candy for everyone that decides to show up?Aprilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01309376231579984213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1422575914712503408.post-20725742932067601352010-10-31T12:35:57.993-06:002010-10-31T12:35:57.993-06:00There are not many members where I love. It was our ward, and the branch that we share the building with and I think each kid brought a few friends too. It was a blast for everyone!! Honestly I will not hand out candy tonight because we are going to bed early after two nights of staying up way too late. I don't think it is shunning my neighbors, because I know each Halloween that we've been around here not everyone has thier lights on. I don't think if mine are off this year that others will be upset with me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1422575914712503408.post-8156826213577945322010-10-31T11:17:53.625-06:002010-10-31T11:17:53.625-06:00I agree.

Our T-r-T was on Tuesday night, then our street had a party on Friday, then trick or treating last night and I'm sure tonight too.

My sister's stake outlawed any Halloween activities due to the nature of the holiday. I could definitely by on board with that...especially after some horribly grotesque costumes in the church building.Malisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15467637959125414526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1422575914712503408.post-51276070679157424732010-10-31T09:59:46.308-06:002010-10-31T09:59:46.308-06:00I have nothing against "trunk or treat" ...I have nothing against "trunk or treat" but I hate that it's taking over the traditional "trick or treat" where kids actually get to walk from door to door. There is something to be said about tradition here people! Hold your church activities on another night other then Halloween night! You have the whole month to choose from! I live in a rather small community where I swear that I am one of maybe 3 families that aren't Mormon, and TOT here last was more than a little disappointing! Thanks Mother Load for writing about this annoying trend!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1422575914712503408.post-36896874225494544402010-10-31T07:46:42.496-06:002010-10-31T07:46:42.496-06:00WELL SAID! That said, I do feel excluded from the neighborhood and it happened so fast.

I have lived here 10 years and never have experienced this until this year.

What troubles me most, is that we go along with all the changes (such as moving the actual holiday to the 30th) and still don't get informed!

Therefore, we are literally standing there holding the bag, albeit an empty one! In fact I just got through saying that Mormons in UT should experience life outside of Utah to more fully appreciate others outside our faith.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1422575914712503408.post-32850358999753911012010-10-31T00:02:54.798-06:002010-10-31T00:02:54.798-06:00I have never been to a trunk or treat. If it is supposed to replace trick or treating, I find a neighborhood who doesn't feel the same. I went to my friend's neighborhood a couple years ago when I felt like my ward's Trunk or Treat was trying to replace trick or treating.

My current Bishop has decided that while anyone of ANY faith is invited to a trunk or treat..it still hurts non'member' feelings...and has decided there shall be NO trunk or treats. (LOVEHIM)

Tomorrow night, when there are 'nonmember' trick or treaters, I will be answering the door with a 'HAPPY HALLOWEEN' and giving out candy. Just because they don't 'believe' the way I do..doesn't mean I should rain on their parade. If I was anywhere but Utah..I'd be out T0Ting with the best of them ;)Emmershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11742483542758348956noreply@blogger.com
